History
In 1918, the Bombay city limits were expanded upto Kurla. A new railway line connecting Kurla to Chembur was constructed and then extended to Mankhurd. A spate of building activity took place in the 1920's.
The Bandra-Kurla Commercial Complex added to the commercial value of Kurla.
It is also the only common railyway station to Central Railway's main line and harbour line. This is of course in addition to VT (Victoria Terminus) -- now named CST (Chattrapati Shivaji Terminus), Masjid and Sandhurst Road.
