Judie Tzuke

Singer/songwriter Judie Tzuke was born Judie Myers in London on 3rd April 1956. Her father, Sefton Myers, was a successful property developer, who also managed artists and singers, most notably Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice at the time of writing Jesus Christ Superstar. His family had come to the UK from Poland in the 1920s and had changed their name from Tzuke to Myers. When Judie started out on her singing career she decided to adopt the original family name. Her mother, Jean Silverside, was a television actress, famous for roles in The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin and The Goodies.
Educated in the arts, music and drama, Judie was performing in folk clubs from the age of 15. Her meeting with Mike Paxman in 1975 was a turning point and they began to collaborate. They eventually got a record deal and formed a band with other musicians, including Paul Muggleton, who was to become Judie's partner and with whom she has two children, Bailey and Tallula.
The first single, For You, was released in 1978 to great critical acclaim but it was the bigger hit, Stay with me 'till dawn, released in 1979, which has remained a classic, featuring in many compilation albums and occupying a special place in the UK public's affections.
Judie never achieved such commercial success again but continues to release albums and to tour. Her unique singing voice and tasteful arrangements have ensured that her strong and affectionate following remains undiminished.
