HMAS Otama

HMAS Otama (S-72) was an Oberon class submarine laid down by Scotts Shipbuilding and Engineering Company at Greenock in Scotland on 25 May 1973, launched on 3 December 1975 and commissioned on 27 April 1978. HMAS Otama paid off on 15 December 2000 and is preserved as a museum at Hastings in Victoria.
Throughout the 1960s and 1970s, Australia also ordered five other O-class submarines: HMAS Oxley, HMAS Otway, HMAS Ovens, HMAS Onslow and HMAS Orion.
