Groton is a village located in Tompkins County, New York. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 2,470.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 4.5 km² (1.7 mi²). None of the area is covered with water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 2,470 people, 960 households, and 627 families residing in the village. The population density is 551.3/km² (1,427.1/mi²). There are 1,028 housing units at an average density of 229.4/km² (593.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 97.29% White, 0.57% Black or African American, 0.16% Native American, 0.08% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.20% from other races, and 1.70% from two or more races. 0.36% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 960 households out of which 34.6% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 48.8% are married couples living together, 12.6% have a female householder with no husband present, and 34.6% are non-families. 28.6% of all households are made up of individuals and 13.1% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.46 and the average family size is 3.05.
