Grosse Pointe Shores is a village located in the U.S. state of Michigan. With only 1.1 mi² (3.0 km²) land area, the village is the smallest of the five Grosse Pointe communities. However, the village entirely comprises the area of two small townships. Most of the village lies within Grosse Pointe Township in Wayne County. A tiny portion of the village lies within Lake Township in Macomb County. The village is the location of the Grosse Pointe Yacht Club on Lake St. Clair.
As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 2,823.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 49.8 km² (19.2 mi²). 3.0 km² (1.1 mi²) of it is land and 46.9 km² (18.1 mi²) of it is water (part of Lake St. Clair). The total area is 94.02% water.
Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 2,823 people, 1,058 households, and 859 families residing in the village. The population density is 956.1/km² (2,470.6/mi²). There are 1,096 housing units at an average density of 371.2/km² (959.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 93.80% White, 0.60% African American, 0.25% Native American, 4.07% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.43% from other races, and 0.85% from two or more races. 1.74% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 1,058 households out of which 28.1% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 74.5% are married couples living together, 4.6% have a female householder with no husband present, and 18.8% are non-families. 17.1% of all households are made up of individuals and 12.5% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.67 and the average family size is 3.01.
In the village the population is spread out with 22.7% under the age of 18, 5.0% from 18 to 24, 16.7% from 25 to 44, 31.1% from 45 to 64, and 24.5% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 48 years. For every 100 females there are 99.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 93.3 males.
The median income for a household in the village is $113,882, and the median income for a family is $139,680. Males have a median income of $100,000 versus $59,375 for females. The per capita income for the village is $69,639. 3.0% of the population and 2.7% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 4.6% of those under the age of 18 and 3.4% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
