Grape Creek is a census-designated place located in Tom Green County, Texas. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 3,138.

Geography

Grape Creek is located at 31°34'15" North, 100°32'44" West (31.570776, -100.545450)Template:GR.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 44.6 km² (17.2 mi²). 44.6 km² (17.2 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.

Demographics

As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 3,138 people, 1,124 households, and 892 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 70.4/km² (182.3/mi²). There are 1,219 housing units at an average density of 27.3/km² (70.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 91.78% White, 0.41% African American, 0.76% Native American, 0.10% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 4.84% from other races, and 2.07% from two or more races. 15.77% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 1,124 households out of which 38.9% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 64.4% are married couples living together, 11.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 20.6% are non-families. 17.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 6.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.79 and the average family size is 3.14.

In the CDP the population is spread out with 28.8% under the age of 18, 8.1% from 18 to 24, 27.3% from 25 to 44, 25.2% from 45 to 64, and 10.5% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 36 years. For every 100 females there are 97.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 95.2 males.

The median income for a household in the CDP is $35,046, and the median income for a family is $38,413. Males have a median income of $30,931 versus $19,957 for females. The per capita income for the CDP is $14,806. 15.5% of the population and 15.0% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 19.6% of those under the age of 18 and 15.1% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
