Glens Falls North is a census-designated place located in Warren County, New York. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 8,061.

This census region is north of the City of Glens Falls, primarily in the Town of Queensbury.

Geography

Glens Falls North is located at 43°19'57" North, 73°40'59" West (43.332421, -73.682972)Template:GR.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 21.3 km² (8.2 mi²). 21.0 km² (8.1 mi²) of it is land and 0.4 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 1.70% water.

Demographics

As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 8,061 people, 3,533 households, and 2,254 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 384.7/km² (996.4/mi²). There are 3,689 housing units at an average density of 176.1/km² (456.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 96.96% White, 0.76% African American, 0.11% Native American, 1.04% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 0.29% from other races, and 0.82% from two or more races. 1.31% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 3,533 households out of which 27.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.3% are married couples living together, 9.9% have a female householder with no husband present, and 36.2% are non-families. 31.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 17.1% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.28 and the average family size is 2.86.

In the CDP the population is spread out with 22.8% under the age of 18, 6.2% from 18 to 24, 25.5% from 25 to 44, 26.1% from 45 to 64, and 19.4% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 42 years. For every 100 females there are 86.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 81.4 males.

The median income for a household in the CDP is $42,424, and the median income for a family is $56,647. Males have a median income of $40,816 versus $25,388 for females. The per capita income for the CDP is $27,460. 7.1% of the population and 6.3% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 12.4% of those under the age of 18 and 2.5% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
