Frewsburg is a hamlet (and census-designated place) located in the Town of Carroll in Chautauqua County, New York. As of the 2000 census, the hamlet had a total population of 1,965.
Geography
Frewsburg is located at 42°3'26" North, 79°9'39" West (42.057220, -79.160898)Template:GR.
The Conewango Creek flows past the west side of the village.
The community is on the west side of the town at the junction of several trunk roads, including Routes 34,36,53, and 55.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the community has a total area of 8.7 km² (3.4 mi²). 8.7 km² (3.4 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 1,965 people, 742 households, and 528 families residing in the area. The population density is 225.8/km² (584.3/mi²). There are 770 housing units at an average density of 88.5/km² (229.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 99.34% White, 0.15% African American, 0.20% Native American, 0.10% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.20% from two or more races. 0.25% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 742 households out of which 33.2% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.7% are married couples living together, 10.0% have a female householder with no husband present, and 28.8% are non-families. 25.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 16.4% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.54 and the average family size is 3.03.
In the community the population is spread out with 24.8% under the age of 18, 6.2% from 18 to 24, 25.3% from 25 to 44, 23.6% from 45 to 64, and 20.2% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 41 years. For every 100 females there are 87.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 80.8 males.
