EnCana Corporation is one of the world's largest independently owned oil and gas companies. Its name comes from a combination of the words "Energy", "Canada", and "Alberta". The company was formed in 2002 with the merger of PanCanadian Energy and Alberta Energy, and is headquartered in Calgary, Alberta.
EnCana is involved in operations in Alberta, the Gulf of Mexico, the Rocky Mountains, Ecuador, the North Sea, and Nova Scotia. There have also been explorations in Australia, Brazil, Libya, and Venezuela.
