Eldridge is a city located in Scott County, Iowa. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 4,159. The city has a mayor-council form of government and employs a city administrator and assistant city administrator.

Geography
Eldridge is located at 41°38'55" North, 90°34'53" West (41.648697, -90.581492)Template:GR.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 24.3 km² (9.4 mi²). 24.3 km² (9.4 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.
Education
Eldridge hosts three of the seven public schools in the North Scott School District, which has its administrative offices there as well. The North Scott High School, North Scott Junior High and Ed White Elementary School are in Eldridge. The other four elementary schools in the district are in the outlining communities of Donahue, Long Grove, Park View and Princeton.
Residents are represented by a seven-member board of education, which conducts bi-monthly meetings on the second and fourth Mondays of each month at the Administration Center.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 4,159 people, 1,501 households, and 1,179 families residing in the city. The population density is 170.8/km² (442.4/mi²). There are 1,540 housing units at an average density of 63.3/km² (163.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 98.58% White, 0.24% African American, 0.05% Native American, 0.22% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.17% from other races, and 0.75% from two or more races. 1.61% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 1,501 households out of which 44.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 64.8% are married couples living together, 11.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 21.4% are non-families. 18.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 5.5% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.77 and the average family size is 3.15.
In the city the population is spread out with 31.5% under the age of 18, 7.0% from 18 to 24, 30.2% from 25 to 44, 23.8% from 45 to 64, and 7.5% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 35 years. For every 100 females there are 94.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 92.0 males.
The median income for a household in the city is $54,167, and the median income for a family is $62,401. Males have a median income of $45,407 versus $23,285 for females.
