Geography
Cutchogue is located at 41°0'38" North, 72°28'25" West (41.010639, -72.473653)Template:GR.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the community has a total area of 22.1 km² (8.5 mi²). 21.0 km² (8.1 mi²) of it is land and 1.1 km² (0.4 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 4.93% water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 2,849 people, 1,120 households, and 801 families residing in the hamlet. The population density is 135.8/km² (351.7/mi²). There are 1,680 housing units at an average density of 80.1/km² (207.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the community is 93.86% White, 2.42% African American, 0.04% Native American, 0.53% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 1.72% from other races, and 1.44% from two or more races. 5.69% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 1,120 households out of which 27.6% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 62.3% are married couples living together, 6.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 28.4% are non-families. 25.1% of all households are made up of individuals and 13.9% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.48 and the average family size is 2.93.
In the hamlet the population is spread out with 21.5% under the age of 18, 5.1% from 18 to 24, 24.7% from 25 to 44, 28.3% from 45 to 64, and 20.5% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 44 years. For every 100 females there are 98.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 94.9 males.
