Chop

The word chop can refer to:
- A cut of meat, (specifically pork, lamb or mutton) that contains a bone, usually a rib. Chops are normally cooked by grilling, although barbecuing and baking are also common.
- A form of fiberglass consisting of short 6-8 inch lengths of glass that is shot out of a pneumatic gun with resin in to a mold. This method is used often when one side of the finished product is not seen, or when large quantities of a product must be made cheaply and quickly without regards to strength. Corvette fenders and boat dinghies are commonly manufactured this way.
- A short steep water wave with a high frequency found in harbors and lakes. Usually created by wind, but also by the passage of boats.
- A colloquial name for seals used in China to prove identity (typically on documents or art in East Asia).
The plural form chops may refer to:
- A person's lips, e.g. "Get your chops round this burger" or a person's physical ablity to play a wind instrument.
- The latter is presumably derived from the fact that a person's endurance on a wind instrument is often refered to as his "lip" (as in the expresions "loosing my lip" and "strong/weak lip").
- By extension chops is also used to describe skill at playing any musical instrument, or style of music (as in "guitar chops" or "jazz chops").
- It can also refer to a man's long sideburns.
The acronym CHOP can refer to:
- A chemotherapy treatment for non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. It is named after the initials of the principal drugs used.
- The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia
