Caledonia Township is a township located in Shiawassee County, Michigan. As of the 2000 census, the township had a total population of 4,427.
Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 82.3 km² (31.8 mi²). 82.0 km² (31.7 mi²) of it is land and 0.3 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.38% water.
Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 4,427 people, 1,712 households, and 1,287 families residing in the township. The population density is 54.0/km² (139.8/mi²). There are 1,794 housing units at an average density of 21.9/km² (56.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the township is 97.24% White, 0.14% African American, 0.32% Native American, 0.61% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 0.68% from other races, and 0.99% from two or more races. 1.65% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 1,712 households out of which 32.2% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 63.4% are married couples living together, 8.2% have a female householder with no husband present, and 24.8% are non-families. 20.9% of all households are made up of individuals and 10.1% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.58 and the average family size is 2.97.
