Caldecote, Milton Keynes
|
Caldecote is a tiny hamlet in Newport Pagnell parish in the Borough of Milton Keynes. Until administrative boundary changes in 1995 it was in Buckinghamshire.
The place name is fairly common in England, and is Old English meaning "cold cottage". This refers to a resting place for travellers or other strangers on the road. The original Northampton to London turnpike(modern B526) runs near by.
The place name was once used elsewhere in Buckinghamshire in the ancient village adjacent to Bedgrove.
