CHWI or The New WI is a television station owned by CHUM Limited. It is part of the NewNet system. The station is licensed to Wheatley, Ontario but operates out of (and focuses on) Windsor, Ontario. CHWI also has offices in Chatham, Ontario.
CHWI is the second-youngest station in the NewNet system, having signed on October 19, 1993. It was founded and owned by Baton Broadcasting and remained a BBS station until it was traded to CHUM in 1997, after which it was rebranded The New WI, happening in 1998.
CHWI's programming is almost identical to that of London, Ontario's CFPL. The New Day morning show has a Windsor host, and the newscasts are broadcast from Windsor, however, only the news anchor is taped at the Windsor studio. Sports, entertainment and weather reports are taped from a studio at CFPL in London.
As with the other NewNet stations, The New WI will be rebranded as A-Channel in September, 2005.
