Brooklyn Dodgers (football)
|
The Brooklyn Dodgers were an American Football team which was a member of the NFL from 1930 to 1943, and in 1944 as the Brooklyn Tigers. In 1945, due to financial difficulties, the team was merged with the Boston Yanks. It was also the name of an All-America Football Conference franchise from 1946 to 1948. The NFL had cancelled owner Dan Toppings' NFL franchise and given the players to the Boston Yanks after Topping announced that he was jumping to the rival league. Both franchises used Ebbets Field as their home grounds (as did the baseball team of the same name).
Another NFL teams in Brooklyn was the Brooklyn Lions (1926).
