Introduction
The Book of Concord was first published on June 25, 1580, fifty years after the presentation of the Augsburg Confession to Emperor Charles V at the Diet of Augsburg. It is a compilation of Lutheran confessional documents, that is, of documents that, for Lutherans, represent an accurate summary of biblical teachings.
