History
First appearing in 1992, the Beretta 92FS Compact Type M model was designed for law enforcement use.
Specifications
About the same size as a Beretta 92FS Compact L, the Beretta 92FS Compact Type M uses a specific frame that has a smaller grip that only accepts a single stack magazine that is specific to the Beretta 92FS Compact Type M.
Intended market
Primarily designed for law enforcement use, targeted at those with small hands like female officers.
Design advantages
The Beretta 92FS Compact Type M maintains all the good handling and safety qualities of the Beretta 92FS Compact L while being somewhat more compact. The barrel bore is hard chromed to reduce wear and corrosion. The smaller grip makes it attractive for small handed users.
Limitations
The Beretta 92FS Compact Type M suffers from the same limitations in harsh environments as all Beretta 92 pistols. Over time the Bruniton finish inside the slide wears away and increases slide to frame play.
