History

First appearing in 1992, the Beretta 92CB model came into being on demand of combat shooting competitors.

Specifications

The Beretta 92CB reverts back to an ambidextrous frame mounted safety based on the Beretta 92. In combat shooting this is useful as this way all shots can be fired in single-action with no variation in trigger pull. Thus like the original Beretta 92, the Beretta 92CB is a single-action pistol with a double-action capability in case of a misfire. The Beretta 92CB is also fitted with a removable front sight.

Intended market

The Beretta 92CB is a pure sports pistol, used for IPSC and other pistol sports.

Design advantages

Like other Beretta 92s, it is very reliable and with its single-action trigger a fast shooting pistol. The Beretta 92CB safety levers are very fast to operate, enabling a proficient sports shooter to shoot two shoots in less time than is required to shoot a single shoot out of a typical double-action first shoot pistol like the Beretta 92FS. Because the Beretta 92CB is build with fewer parts it is somewhat more reliable than a Beretta 92FS. The barrel bore is hard chromed which reduces wear and corrosion.

Limitations

The Beretta 92CB turned out to be unsuited as a combat sports pistol, as the standard slide could not cope with the high volume shooting performed in this sports. The Bruniton finish wears off inside the slide and increases slide to frame play. Like all Beretta 92 pistols the Beretta92CB is not suited for use in harsh environments.
