Barting Over

Template:Infobox The Simpsons season fourteen Barting Over is an episode of The Simpsons advertised by FOX to be the 300th episode of the show. It aired on February 16, 2003.

The episode is actually episode number 302 of the series. Episode 300 of The Simpsons is The Strong Arms of The Ma, which aired February 2, 2003, two weeks earlier.

It is not known really why FOX advertised the wrong episode as number 300. It is probably because the network wanted the episode to get better ratings during sweeps period or because this episode seemed more like "300th episode" material. In the episode, Marge wonders how many times Homer did something crazy and Lisa says it's 300. Marge then says she thought it was 302, indicating that the producers probably knew this was the 302 episode.

Synopsis

While cleaning out the garage, Bart and Lisa find a box of old video tapes. While watching one (entitled Bart s ad), they find an episode of Perfect Strangers. During the commercial break, they see one with Bart in it as a toddler (the tape's title is actually Bart's ad). Homer says he put Bart in the commercial to buy back some photos of him dropping Bart from a balcony. Tired of getting mistreated by Homer, Bart decides to sue him. At the trial, Judge Harm decides to emancipate Bart.

Bart moves into a drug trade consumed part of town. In his first night there, Bart freaks out and tries to go downstairs. However, the elevator only goes up. Just when Bart thinks he's going to die, he finds a massive apartment owned by skateboard legend Tony Hawk. Bart no longer feels afraid.

At home, Bart is missed by his parents (Marge keeps pouring juice for five). When they visit him at his apartment, Bart says that he is going on tour with Hawk. At the tour, Homer asks Hawk to lose to him in a skateboarding match. When Tony gets injured, Bart forgives Homer, after Lyndsey Nagel asks Homer to endorse a new product.

  • Homer: (sits at a computer with a glass of brandy) Of all the sites on all the web, I had to click onto his. (Homer then takes a sip of his brandy, a'la Casablanca, complete with piano music from the film)
