BBC East Midlands Today
|
BBC East Midlands Today is the BBC's regional television news programme for the east midlands region, which is comprised of Derbyshire, Leicestershire, southern Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire and Rutland (note this is different to the political East Midlands region). It broadcasts on BBC ONE from its studio at the BBC centre in Nottingham, also home to BBC Radio Nottingham.
East Midlands Today was established as an independent program in 1991, having previously been part of the BBC Midlands Today program, which now covers just the West Midlands. Midlands Today was, for many years, depressingly Birmingham-centric and gave an unrealistic, if not ignorant, coverage of the local area's news.
Current presenters include Mel Coles, Anne Davies, Lisa Dransfield, Dominic Heale, Jo Healey, Carol Hinds and Priya Kaur-Jones.
Anne Davies used to read the news on GMTV, and previously was a presenter on Central News East, which broadcast from Nottingham.
