Auburn railway station, Melbourne
|
Auburn is a railway station (station code: AUB) in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It is located on the Lilydale, Belgrave, and Alamein lines, at Auburn and Victoria Roads in the suburb of Hawthorn East. It is 7.7 km from Flinders Street Station, the center of the city's suburban railway network, and in Metcard ticketing Zone 1.
Auburn is a "host" station, meaning that it is only staffed during peak hours.
The current station was constructed in 1916, following the raising of the railway line over Auburn Road to remove a gradient which prevented a full length train from climbing into Camberwell. It is virtually identical to the neighbouring Glenferrie station built the same year to raise the line above Glenferrie Road. Both stations are listed on the Victorian Heritage Register.
