Amber Brkich (born August 11, 1978) is the winner of Survivor: All-Stars, and was a contestant on Survivor: The Australian Outback. On May 9, 2004, she accepted fellow All-Stars competitor Rob Mariano's proposal of marriage on live television.
As a couple in 2005, Brkich and Mariano participated in the seventh season of The Amazing Race and came in second place. While some felt that they brought new, exciting elements into the Race, others felt that they were using the program to sustain public interest to earn a paid, televised wedding.
Born in Beaver, Pennsylvania, Brkich went to Beaver Area High School, and then to Westminster College in New Wilmington, Pennsylvania. She was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority at Westminster, of which she was vice president and new member coordinator. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in public relations with a minor in speech communications. She has worked as an administrative assistant. After appearing in Survivor: The Australian Outback, she briefly worked as the host of an adventure travel game on Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines.
Brkich is a member of the Catholic Church. Her surname is Croatian (Brkić).
On April 16 2005 Rob Mariano and Amber Brkich were married in a private ceremony in the Bahamas. The U.S. television network CBS aired a 2 hour special about the wedding on May 24, 2005. [1] (http://www.wtev.com/entertainment/story.aspx?content_id=E84A306C-9DE9-43B6-BA4C-0504CCC11350)
