Albany International Airport Template:Airport codes is a regional facility in Albany, New York, in upstate New York.
Albany International Airport can accept a variety of airliners and has fifty airbridges. Although the airport is significant and well-equipped, it is essentially a regional airport. Its distinction as an international airport is due to the fact that it offers regular service to Toronto (which it actually did not even offer until several years after "international" had been added to its name), and because the International Civil Aviation Organization awarded it this status.
Major airlines have served the short route between this airport and the New York City area's other airports: Newark Liberty International Airport in Newark, New Jersey, La Guardia Airport in Flushing, New York, and John F. Kennedy International Airport in Jamaica, New York. Continental Express currently serves Albany International Airport from its Newark Liberty International Airport hub, within reach of Manhattan. CommutAir, flying for Continental Connection flew to twenty Northeast cities non-stop from Albany, but shuttered its hub in April 2005.
