A History of Man
|
A History of Man is a Scientology book written by L. Ron Hubbard in 1952. A History of Man puts forward a number of claims, many of which are not considered at all compatible with scientific consensus, to describe the origins of humanity according to Scientology.
The book puts forward the notion that clam-like alien creatures called boohoos and weapers were tossed into the Earth's oceans millions of years ago, and that those clams have evolved into humanity, which retains psychological problems due to the enturbulation these clams experienced by the agitation of ocean waves. The book also claimed that the Earth is much older than the five billion years or so that science describes.
The first original versions of the work are considered collector's items, as later versions have been heavily altered to remove notions that were considered rather embarrassing by the people who took over Scientology and who have been rewriting (also known as squirreling) Hubbard's writings since his death.
