Åsnes is a municipality in the county of Hedmark, Norway. It is bordered on the north by Våler, in the south by Grue, and in the west by Nord-Odal. To the east it borders Sweden.
Finnskogen or the Finn's forest is a belt about 32 km (20 miles) wide and running continuously along the frontier in the districts of Brandval, Grue, and Hof (Hof is now Åsnes, and Våler).
