Zubenelgenubi the designation of the star is α (Alpha) Librae. Zubenelgenubi a white star of the spectral type A3 at a distance of 72 lightyears. It has an apparent brightness of +2.8 likes and an absolute brightness of 1.1 likes. Zubenelgenubi possesses a companion of the apparent brightness of +5.2 magnitude, which can be found in binoculars because of its large angular distance of 231"(= 3'51"). The spectral type of the likewise 72 light years distant companion is F4, its absolute brightness +3.5 magnitude. Zubenelgenubi is close to the ecliptic so it can be easily occulted by the moon and (very rarely!) by planets. The next occultation of Zubenelgenubi by a planet will take place on 10 November 2052 via the planet Mercury, see [1] (http://www.marco-peuschel.de/planetensterne.html).
