Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 5,242 people, 2,803 households, and 1,749 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 760.9/km² (1,973.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 97.60% White, 0.23% African American, 0.34% Native American, 0.50% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 0.40% from other races, and 0.92% from two or more races. 2.08% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 2,803 households out of which 8.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.4% are married couples living together, 4.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 37.6% are non-families. 34.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 25.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 1.87 and the average family size is 2.31.
