Zen Arcade is Hüsker Dü's third full-length album, released in 1984 by SST Records. Zen Arcade is a concept album, originally released as two LPs, about an adolescent who runs away because his home life is unfulfilling (described in songs such as "Broken Home, Broken Heart" and "Never Talking To You Again"). After running away, he discovers that the whole world is a huge letdown (in songs like "Masochism World" and "Turn On The News"). According to the liner notes, the entire album was recorded and mixed in 85 hours, and all but two songs ("Something I Learned Today" & "Newest Industry") are first takes.
