Wynyard, Tasmania

Wynyard is a rural town on the north-west coast of Tasmania, Australia. It lies 16 km west of Burnie on the Bass Highway, and has a population of 4670 (1991 census). It is part of the local government area of Municipality of Waratah/Wynyard, the mayor is Roger Chalk.
Wynyard is most notable for the local scenic attraction of Table Cape.
The Wynyard Tulip Festival is also a popular event each year. The Tulip Festival was renamed to Bloomin' Tulips in 2004 by the festival committee. The festival is one of the towns greatest attractions with many tourists turning out to see the events.
Wynyard also has an airport, run by the Burnie Port Authority and called 'Burnie Airport', which serves the nearby city of Burnie.
