Wylie is a city located in Collin County, Texas. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 15,132, but recent rapid growth has 2004 estimates suggesting the population is already 25,850.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 86.2 km² (33.3 mi²). 50.2 km² (19.4 mi²) of it is land and 36.1 km² (13.9 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 41.83% water.

As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 15,132 people, 5,085 households, and 4,108 families residing in the city. The population density is 301.6/km² (781.2/mi²). There are 5,326 housing units at an average density of 106.2/km² (275.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 90.45% White, 2.07% African American, 0.70% Native American, 0.60% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 4.30% from other races, and 1.86% from two or more races. 10.44% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 5,085 households out of which 50.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 64.9% are married couples living together, 11.2% have a female householder with no husband present, and 19.2% are non-families. 15.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 4.2% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.96 and the average family size is 3.29.
