Woodstock is a city located in McHenry County, Illinois. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 20,151. It is the county seat of McHenry CountyTemplate:GR.
Often described as "quaint", Woodstock was the primary filming location for the 1993 movie Groundhog Day.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 27.6 km² (10.7 mi²). 27.6 km² (10.7 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 20,151 people, 7,273 households, and 4,843 families residing in the city. The population density is 729.9/km² (1,891.1/mi²). There are 7,599 housing units at an average density of 275.2/km² (713.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 87.48% White, 1.06% African American, 0.23% Native American, 2.01% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 7.69% from other races, and 1.52% from two or more races. 19.01% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 7,273 households out of which 37.5% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 52.7% are married couples living together, 9.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 33.4% are non-families. 27.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 9.2% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.68 and the average family size is 3.30.
In the city the population is spread out with 27.9% under the age of 18, 10.2% from 18 to 24, 33.2% from 25 to 44, 18.9% from 45 to 64, and 9.8% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 32 years. For every 100 females there are 100.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 98.5 males.
The median income for a household in the city is $47,871, and the median income for a family is $54,408. Males have a median income of $40,137 versus $27,264 for females. The per capita income for the city is $23,210. 7.2% of the population and 5.3% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 8.0% of those under the age of 18 and 3.0% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
