Windows Media
|
Windows Media is a framework for media creation and distribution for Microsoft Windows. It consists of a software development kit with several application programming interfaces and a number of prebuilt technologies. The following are part of Windows Media:
- Windows Media Player
- Advanced Streaming Format (ASF)
- Windows Media Audio (WMA)
- Windows Media Video (WMV)
The media formats have support for digital rights management. An analysis of an earlier version of the DRM scheme in Windows Media Audio revealed that it was using a combination of elliptic curve cryptography key exchange, DES block cipher, a custom block cipher, RC4 stream cipher and the SHA-1 hashing function.
