Willowbrook is a village located in DuPage County, Illinois. It should not be confused with Willowbrook, Will County, Illinois, an unincorporated census-designated place. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 8,967.
Geography
Willowbrook is located at 41°46'2" North, 87°56'57" West (41.767153, -87.949281)Template:GR.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 6.8 km² (2.6 mi²). 6.7 km² (2.6 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 1.14% water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 8,967 people, 4,178 households, and 2,272 families residing in the village. The population density is 1,331.6/km² (3,447.8/mi²). There are 4,504 housing units at an average density of 668.8/km² (1,731.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 84.63% White, 2.42% African American, 0.04% Native American, 10.01% Asian, 0.04% Pacific Islander, 1.16% from other races, and 1.68% from two or more races. 4.26% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 4,178 households out of which 21.0% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 45.0% are married couples living together, 7.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 45.6% are non-families. 40.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 12.5% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.11 and the average family size is 2.92.
In the village the population is spread out with 18.1% under the age of 18, 6.1% from 18 to 24, 29.2% from 25 to 44, 27.6% from 45 to 64, and 19.0% who are 65 years of age or older.
