Williamsville is a village located in Erie County, New York in the USA. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 5,573. The village is named after Jonas Williams, an early settler.
The Village of Williamsville is located mostly within the Town of Amherst, but a small section is in the Town of Cheektowaga. The village is in the northern part of Erie County.

History
The community developed because it was an important location on the major road between Batavia, New York and Buffalo. The development was promoted by the contruction of two water mills by Jonas Williams. The village was incorporated in 1850.
In 1983 Williamsville passed its Historic Preservation Code to conserve its attractive, old buildings.
Geography
Williamsville is located at 42°57'45" North, 78°44'33" West (42.962546, -78.742435)Template:GR. It is northeast of Buffalo, New York.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 3.2 km² (1.2 mi²). 3.2 km² (1.2 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.
Ellicott Creek passes through the village.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 5,573 people, 2,534 households, and 1,337 families residing in the village. The population density is 1,721.4/km² (4,447.8/mi²). There are 2,640 housing units at an average density of 815.4/km² (2,107.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 97.29% White, 0.68% African American, 0.11% Native American, 0.95% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.32% from other races, and 0.65% from two or more races. 1.08% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 2,534 households out of which 22.6% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 42.1% are married couples living together, 8.9% have a female householder with no husband present, and 47.2% are non-families. 42.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 21.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.11 and the average family size is 2.93.
In the village the population is spread out with 19.4% under the age of 18, 5.2% from 18 to 24, 26.6% from 25 to 44, 22.9% from 45 to 64, and 25.8% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 44 years. For every 100 females there are 75.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 71.3 males.
The median income for a household in the village is $47,557, and the median income for a family is $65,300. Males have a median income of $43,500 versus $32,172 for females. The per capita income for the village is $27,177. 4.5% of the population and 2.5% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 2.7% of those under the age of 18 and 4.7% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
