William Roache, MBE (born April 25, 1932) is a British television actor, who plays the part of Ken Barlow in the long-running soap opera, Coronation Street. He is the only remaining member of the original cast, having appeared in the first episode in 1960.
Although widely believed to be the longest-serving actor ever on a television series, the record is actually held by Don Hastings, who has played Dr. Bob Hughes on As the World Turns since October 1960 -- two months longer than Roache.
His son is the actor, Linus Roache.
