According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 3.5 km² (1.3 mi²). 3.4 km² (1.3 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 1.49% water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 765 people, 312 households, and 186 families residing in the village. The population density is 223.8/km² (580.1/mi²). There are 339 housing units at an average density of 99.2/km² (257.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 97.25% White, 0.78% African American, 0.13% Native American, 0.26% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.92% from other races, and 0.65% from two or more races. 2.22% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 312 households out of which 29.5% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 43.9% are married couples living together, 11.2% have a female householder with no husband present, and 40.1% are non-families. 36.9% of all households are made up of individuals and 19.6% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.26 and the average family size is 2.97.
