White Salmon was officially incorporated on June 3, 1907.
Geography
White Salmon is located at 45°43'44" North, 121°29'1" West (45.728792, -121.483557)Template:GR.According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 3.2 km² (1.2 mi²). 3.2 km² (1.2 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 2,193 people, 887 households, and 590 families residing in the city. The population density is 677.4/km² (1,759.2/mi²). There are 948 housing units at an average density of 292.8/km² (760.5/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 83.08% White, 0.23% African American, 1.14% Native American, 0.73% Asian, 0.09% Pacific Islander, 12.04% from other races, and 2.69% from two or more races. 16.83% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 887 households out of which 34.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 50.1% are married couples living together, 12.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 33.4% are non-families. 29.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 14.2% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.46 and the average family size is 3.03.
In the city the population is spread out with 28.7% under the age of 18, 7.0% from 18 to 24, 28.2% from 25 to 44, 20.4% from 45 to 64, and 15.7% who are 65 years of age or older.
