Westport is a town located in Bristol County, Massachusetts. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 14,183.

History
Westport was first settled in 1670 and was officially incorporated in 1787.
Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 166.8 km² (64.4 mi²). 129.6 km² (50.0 mi²) of it is land and 37.1 km² (14.3 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 22.27% water.
Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 14,183 people, 5,386 households, and 4,082 families residing in the town. The population density is 109.4/km² (283.4/mi²). There are 6,143 housing units at an average density of 47.4/km² (122.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 98.01% White, 0.17% African American, 0.14% Native American, 0.49% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 0.37% from other races, and 0.79% from two or more races. 0.69% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 5,386 households out of which 29.0% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 62.9% are married couples living together, 9.0% have a female householder with no husband present, and 24.2% are non-families. 19.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 8.9% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.62 and the average family size is 3.01.
In the town the population is spread out with 21.6% under the age of 18, 6.7% from 18 to 24, 28.0% from 25 to 44, 29.0% from 45 to 64, and 14.6% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 41 years. For every 100 females there are 96.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 95.2 males.
The median income for a household in the town is $55,436, and the median income for a family is $64,568. Males have a median income of $41,890 versus $30,921 for females.
