Weston Mills is a hamlet and also a census-designated place located in the Town of Portville in Cattaraugus County, New York. As of the 2000 census, the community had a total population of 1,608.
Geography
Weston Mills is located at 42°4'13" North, 78°22'44" West (42.070296, -78.379012)Template:GR.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 17.5 km² (6.8 mi²). 17.2 km² (6.7 mi²) of it is land and 0.2 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 1.33% water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 1,608 people, 654 households, and 453 families residing in the region. The population density is 93.2/km² (241.5/mi²). There are 694 housing units at an average density of 40.2/km² (104.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 97.76% White, 0.81% African American, 0.19% Native American, 0.19% Asian, 0.06% Pacific Islander, 0.06% from other races, and 0.93% from two or more races. 0.68% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 654 households out of which 30.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.2% are married couples living together, 8.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 30.6% are non-families. 24.6% of all households are made up of individuals and 10.1% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.46 and the average family size is 2.94.
In the locale the population is spread out with 23.7% under the age of 18, 6.5% from 18 to 24, 27.5% from 25 to 44, 25.9% from 45 to 64, and 16.4% who are 65 years of age or older.
