Wentworth, New South Wales

Wentworth is a small town and Local Government Area in the far south west of New South Wales, Australia. Wentworth is located at the confluence of the Murray River and the Darling River. During the late 1800s it was an important river port, but with the development of railways river shipping ceased and the importance of Wentworth declined.
Wentworth is the seat of the Wentworth Shire local government area. Wentworth is linked to Broken Hill by the Silver City Highway. Wentworth is named for William Charles Wentworth the explorer.Template:Australia-geo-stub
