Weldon Township is a township located in Benzie County, Michigan. As of the 2000 census, the township had a total population of 530. The township is in the south central portion of the county. One half of the village of Thompsonville is located in the township.
Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 94.9 km² (36.6 mi²). 94.8 km² (36.6 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.05% water.
Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 530 people, 217 households, and 149 families residing in the township. The population density is 5.6/km² (14.5/mi²). There are 483 housing units at an average density of 5.1/km² (13.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the township is 95.85% White, 0.00% African American, 2.45% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 1.13% from other races, and 0.57% from two or more races. 1.70% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 217 households out of which 25.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.9% are married couples living together, 10.6% have a female householder with no husband present, and 30.9% are non-families. 24.9% of all households are made up of individuals and 11.5% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.44 and the average family size is 2.87.
