Weimar is a city located in Colorado County, Texas. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 1,981.
Weimar was the place where Norman J. Sirnic and Karen Sirnic were bludgeoned to death by a sledgehammer by serial killer Angel Maturino Resendiz on May 2, 1998. Their parsonage was adjacent to the train tracks.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 5.9 km² (2.3 mi²). 5.9 km² (2.3 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 1,981 people, 817 households, and 522 families residing in the city. The population density is 338.4/km² (877.2/mi²). There are 940 housing units at an average density of 160.6/km² (416.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 67.95% White, 21.76% African American, 0.15% Native American, 0.91% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 7.67% from other races, and 1.56% from two or more races. 14.74% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 817 households out of which 27.2% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 47.6% are married couples living together, 13.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 36.0% are non-families. 33.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 20.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.34 and the average family size is 2.99.
In the city the population is spread out with 24.5% under the age of 18, 6.1% from 18 to 24, 22.3% from 25 to 44, 22.7% from 45 to 64, and 24.4% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 42 years. For every 100 females there are 83.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 77.8 males.
The median income for a household in the city is $27,667, and the median income for a family is $42,143. Males have a median income of $31,477 versus $16,757 for females. The per capita income for the city is $16,272. 13.2% of the population and 9.0% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 22.0% of those under the age of 18 and 14.5% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
