Webb Institute

The Webb Institute is a specialized private college that has only one program: Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering. The campus is a 26 acre (105,000 m²) beach front on Long Island, New York, which allows boating, sailing, swimming, and water skiing during free time.
Webb is located in Glen Cove, New York in Nassau County. The school is in the suburbs of New York City on the Long Island Sound.
An almost unique feature of Webb is that there is no tuition charged to its students. Students must pay for other costs, such as room and board, books, and various fees. The B.S. degree is awarded after four years of "total immersion" study, which includes time at sea and in industry.
Requirements include that students be US citizens or permanent residents, be unmarried, and live on campus. The Student Organization adheres to an Honor Code. Intercollegiate sports include sailing, tennis, and basketball.
The school has its own yacht club, model basin, and English pub. Its alumni giving rate is the highest in the nation. It has been highly rated by Princeton Review in the category of specialty engineering colleges.
The school is atypical in that due to its size, the professors rotate to each classroom and the main building houses both dorms and classrooms (one per 4 year position). Employment placement rate in the industry is basically 100%. Access to professors (there are no TAs) is superb. The numbers of students is fewer than 100 in any given year.
