Wautoma is a city located in Waushara County, Wisconsin. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 1,998. Wautoma is the county seat for Waushara County.
The city consists of three noncontiguous areas: one is entirely within the Town of Wautoma, the second is entirely within the Town of Dakota, and the third straddles the boundary between the two towns.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 6.6 km² (2.5 mi²). 6.5 km² (2.5 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 1.57% water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 1,998 people, 806 households, and 429 families residing in the city. The population density is 308.6/km² (800.8/mi²). There are 877 housing units at an average density of 135.4/km² (351.5/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 94.04% White, 1.10% Black or African American, 0.70% Native American, 0.85% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 2.00% from other races, and 1.30% from two or more races. 7.21% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 806 households out of which 27.2% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 37.7% are married couples living together, 11.0% have a female householder with no husband present, and 46.7% are non-families. 40.4% of all households are made up of individuals and 20.1% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.20 and the average family size is 3.04.
In the city the population is spread out with 24.0% under the age of 18, 9.4% from 18 to 24, 25.5% from 25 to 44, 17.6% from 45 to 64, and 23.5% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 39 years. For every 100 females there are 98.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 89.5 males.
