Watertown is a city located in Wilson County, Tennessee. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 1,358.

Geography
Watertown is located at 36°6'0" North, 86°8'14" West (36.100039, -86.137102)Template:GR.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 3.2 km² (1.2 mi²). 3.2 km² (1.2 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 1,358 people, 542 households, and 377 families residing in the city. The population density is 419.5/km² (1,083.9/mi²). There are 605 housing units at an average density of 186.9/km² (482.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 91.24% White, 6.11% African American, 0.37% Native American, 0.07% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.66% from other races, and 1.55% from two or more races. 1.25% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 542 households out of which 33.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.5% are married couples living together, 13.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 30.3% are non-families. 28.4% of all households are made up of individuals and 14.6% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.51 and the average family size is 3.06.
In the city the population is spread out with 26.7% under the age of 18, 8.5% from 18 to 24, 28.3% from 25 to 44, 21.2% from 45 to 64, and 15.4% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 37 years. For every 100 females there are 89.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 82.8 males.
The median income for a household in the city is $35,662, and the median income for a family is $41,484. Males have a median income of $30,263 versus $22,500 for females. The per capita income for the city is $17,008. 11.0% of the population and 9.2% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 15.2% of those under the age of 18 and 8.5% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
Arts and Entertainment
- In 1997, songwriter Tom T. Hall immortalized the city in a song titled appropriately, Watertown, Tennessee, which still receives occasional radio airplay on country stations.
- Country singer Garth Brooks filmed a Dr. Pepper television commercial and his "Wrapped Up In You" music video on the town square in 2001.
- In 2003, a new Drive-in theater successfully opened in Watertown, a very unusual event since most drive-ins around the country have closed.
- The city is a frequent destination of excursion trains from nearby Nashville, Tennessee run by the Tennessee Central Railway Museum.
