Wally Heider's Studio was located at 245 Hyde Street, San Francisco, between Turk and Eddy Streets, with the Blackhawk Jazz Club across the street. Studio "D" was upstairs in the back.
Wally Heider (and his crew) was very well known for making excellent studio and remote location recordings and for the engineering, so much so that practically any album recorded there, or by them, is bound to be a great sounding album.
The building that housed Wally Heider's Studio is in fact still a top quality recording studio. Michael Ward, the owner of Hyde Street Studios, took over the business in 1980 with the goal of continuing the legacy that Wally created. 25 years later, they're still going strong.
