One of the endangered species protected at the centre is the Ne-ne, the rarest goose in the world, and the state bird of Hawaii. Over 1,000 species of duck, goose and swan can be seen at the reserve.
There is a re-creation of Mývatn, a volcanic lake in Iceland.
