Viola is a hamlet (and a census-designated place) located in Rockland County, New York. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 5,931.
Viola is in the Town of Ramapo.
Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 7.0 km² (2.7 mi²). 7.0 km² (2.7 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 5,931 people, 1,681 households, and 1,250 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 845.0/km² (2,192.4/mi²). There are 1,738 housing units at an average density of 247.6/km² (642.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 97.81% White, 0.32% African American, 0.05% Native American, 0.67% Asian, 0.07% Pacific Islander, 0.46% from other races, and 0.62% from two or more races. 2.61% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 1,681 households out of which 40.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 68.7% are married couples living together, 4.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 25.6% are non-families. 24.4% of all households are made up of individuals and 20.6% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.53 and the average family size is 4.34.
In the CDP the population is spread out with 39.9% under the age of 18, 8.3% from 18 to 24, 17.6% from 25 to 44, 18.9% from 45 to 64, and 15.3% who are 65 years of age or older.
