Victor is a town located in Ontario County, New York. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 9,977. The town is named after Claudius Victor Boughton, a hero of the War of 1812.
The Town of Victor contains a village, also called Victor. The town is in the northwest corner of the county.

History
The town is the site of an important Seneca village Gannagaro, but the tribe abandoned the location after a conflict with French invaders in 1687. The Town of Victor was formed from part of the Town of Bloomfield in 1812.
Geography
The west and north town lines are the border of Monroe County, New York. The New York State Thruway passes across the north part of the town. The town is southeast of Rochester.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 93.1 km² (36.0 mi²). 93.1 km² (35.9 mi²) of it is land and 0.0 km² (0.0 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.03% water.
Demographics
As of the census of 2000, there are 9,977 people, 3,685 households, and 2,741 families residing in the town. The population density is 107.2/km² (277.6/mi²). There are 3,872 housing units at an average density of 41.6 persons/km² (107.7 persons/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 96.34% White, 0.89% African American, 0.18% Native American, 1.17% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.48% from other races, and 0.93% from two or more races. 1.62% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 3,685 households out of which 36.5% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 66.0% are married couples living together, 6.0% have a woman whose husband does not live with her, and 25.6% are non-families. 20.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 7.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.66 and the average family size is 3.11.
In the town the population is spread out with 27.7% under the age of 18, 5.3% from 18 to 24, 30.4% from 25 to 44, 26.4% from 45 to 64, and 10.2% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 38 years. For every 100 females there are 99.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 95.5 males.
The median income for a household in the town is $59,349, and the median income for a family is $71,526. Males have a median income of $51,006 versus $35,208 for females. The per capita income for the town is $31,321. 3.0% of the population and 2.3% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 3.4% are under the age of 18 and 7.0% are 65 or older.
Communities and locations in the Town of Victor
- Boughton Hill -- A hamlet south of Victor village on Route 444. This is one of the first communities to be settled in the town.
- East Victor -- A hamlet east of Victor village on Route 96.
- Fishers -- A hamlet in the northwest part of the town.
- Ganondagan -- The historic Seneca village is now a state historical site. It is west of Boughton Hill.
- Motts Corners -- A hamlet in the northeast part of the town.
- Railroad Mills -- A location in the northwest part of the town.
- Victor -- The Village of Victor.
